The rehabilitation of this East Dallas home frames itself around ideas of solid versus void and the organization of movement in between. Careful consideration of massing certain components of the program together form opportunities to open the interior of the home to the exterior at meaningful conditions. Voids are read and registered as natural ways to move through the space and are often further emphasized by the light that floods through the masses on either side. The light along with the objects of mass reinforce the idea and importance of axes through a once restricted space. A fairly traditional home is reorganized and rethought which results in a space that functions naturally and intuitively for the users.
