Kayla Holzhauer
Design Associate
Master of Architecture, University of Texas at Austin
Bachelor of Science in Architecture, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
Kayla has a passion for designing spaces that situate individual client needs and interests within a larger context bridging research and practice. A semester abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark inspired this approach to design. In addition to welcoming her to the city, Kayla’s host family taught her about Danish culture, including how Danes curate their environments, especially their homes, for daily rituals. To this day, Kayla incorporates these principles into her projects, and keeps in touch with her host family.
Originally from Minnesota, Kayla holds a Master in Architecture from University of Texas at Austin. Kayla was drawn to MF Architecture because of how the practice integrates sustainability into the site strategy, form, materiality, and overall design concept, and for the collaborative office environment and balance between technical rigor, conceptual clarity, and design excellence.
Previously, Kayla worked at firms in Minneapolis and Austin, where she gained experience designing for mixed-use, residential, commercial, and institutional projects. Kayla’s design work has been featured in multiple publications, including Midwest Home Magazine, HGTV Magazine, and Charleston Home + Design Magazine.
